About Us

Koch Metal Works (Koch Stainless Products) started operations in 1970 with a small shop located near the corner of Logan and Quelch in Northwest Winnipeg. The company specialized in stainless steel and manufactured a wide variety of restaurant equipment. Increasing production made moving to a larger plant necessary in 1978 when a new shop was constructed at the present location on Jarvis Ave. Subsequent additions in 1986, 1996 and 2013, and the purchase of adjacent buildings in 2001, 2008, 2011 and 2012 have expanded the shop to its present size.

The focus of the company has changed over the years from restaurant equipment sales and service to a wider variety of custom and production metal fabrication in all types of metals. This has prompted us to change our name to Koch Metal Works, as we do a lot more than just stainless steel. The addition of new leading edge shop equipment to meet changing capabilities, has left Koch Metal Works in a position to provide the services of both custom and production run capacity and direct OEM supply chain.

Koch has a well-developed Quality Management System currently in place. All of our inspectors use uniPoint quality software deployed on tablets for mobile use. Because we have such a strong commitment to quality, we are undergoing steps to become ISO 9001:2008 certified.

Koch is also very committed to the health and safety of its employees and job sites. We utilize a web-based safety system called mySafetyAssistant and use 1LifeWorkplace Safety and Health consultants to make sure we are meeting and exceeding all health and safety requirements. Koch is registered with COR and will achieve full certification during the summer of 2015.

Koch’s facilities include 4 plants with approximately 65,000 sq. ft. of shop area. Koch’s main plant at 511 Jarvis Ave has 34,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space which includes Laser cutting, CNC turret punching, CNC braking, CNC rolling and CNC tube bending capabilities. Koch has an 11,000 sq. ft. shop dedicated to CWB Certified welding which has 12 work stations. This shop offers full MIG, TIG and resistance welding capabilities and is equipped with fume extraction arms, air make-up unit and bulk gas delivery system to meet your toughest welding demands. A 5,600 sq. ft. shop houses our CNC machining equipment as well as a small heat treating oven. Koch also has a 5,600 sq. ft. warehouse for storing finished and WIP parts. We have extensive knowledge and experience in Kanban and JIT direct supply chain processing and have been trained in Lean Manufacturing. The shipping / receiving departments use 6,000 lb. and 4,500 lb. capacity forklifts for loading and unloading. The company has a ¾ ton pick-up truck, 2 flat deck 1 ton trucks, 1 flat deck 3 ton truck and a service van for on-site services and deliveries. Our material inventory has over 100,000 lbs. of various metals and sizes to meet our customers every requirement.
